Kasoa Interchange Project

The Kasoa Interchange and Ancillaries Project was a Government of Ghana financed road and urban development project located in the Kasoa metropolis, Central region Ghana. The objective of the project was to ease the perennial traffic congestion and improve safety on that section of the highway. The project comprised the construction of 270m long viaduct, two 30m long viaducts, 6 km of dual carriageways associated with the viaducts, and 53 km of urban roads. In addition to the roads and viaducts, the project also constructed a hospital, rehabilitated 12 schools and provided potable water to the communities within its catchment area. The cost of the entire project was US$172 million. The contractor, Messrs QGMI, a global infrastructure company, was responsible for the design of the project on a design-build basis. The Consultant acted as the Engineer for the Employer, the Ministry of Roads and Highways, Ghana. In the capacity of Engineer, the consulting firm was responsible for vetting designs, construction supervision, and stakeholder management

NKA was a subconsultant to the supervising consultant, Messrs St Annes, to manage the construction project. Specifically, NKA provided the Road Safety Expert services as part of the consultant’s team. The expert was responsible for safety auditing of the design and the construction, and the pre-opening safety audit of the project
