Project Overview
The Asafo Market Interchange is a four (4) lane, ‘road–over-rail’ and ‘road-over-road’ two-bridge interchange with associated road network located in Kumasi, Ghana. The interchange was designed by Messrs MDC Ltd. NKA was the traffic engineer consultant to MDC
NKA’s Role
NKA was the traffic engineering consultant to MDC. NKA was responsible for planning, traffic data collection, and traffic engineering design for the interchange involving:
- Traffic data: origin – destination surveys; traffic volume and classification counts
- Axle load surveys
- Road accident data
- Engineering design
- Development of a traffic management scheme for the entire road corridor in which the interchange was located
